Where can I post my letter/parcel?

Where you can post / drop off letters and parcels depends on if you need proof of postage, how big/heavy the item is, the service you're using and how you bought your postage.

Postboxes

You can post your pre-paid** mail in a postbox if it fits and you don't need proof of postage.

Parcel Postboxes

You can post your pre-paid** large letters and parcels here if it fits and you don't need proof of posting

  • Items must weight 2kg or less
  • Maximum dimensions:  length 44cm, width 35cm, depth 16cm.

**Special Delivery, International tracked, Tracked Returns without a barcode on the label and Mail Order Returns items without a barcode on the label must be posted in a Post Office branch.

Parcelshops

If you need proof of postage, or your item's too large for a postbox or Parcel Postbox, you can take it to a Collect+ store or Post Office® branch.

Customer Service Point (CSP)

You can post your items at our Customer Service Points (usually located in a Delivery Office), as well as collecting items we’ve attempted to deliver.

If you've bought online postage using Click & Drop, the Royal Mail App, or have franked mail to send, you can drop these items off at your nearest Customer Service Point (CSP). Please remember to bring any relevant paperwork. You can also post UK mail which already has the right postage on it .

If you need proof of postage you can print out, complete and bring with you a certificate of posting. A member of staff will stamp it for you.

Please note: if you're sending anything which is restricted (check our list) you can't drop it off at a CSP. You'll need to take it to a Post Office ® branch instead.

If you drop your item off at a CSP after the latest acceptance times or on a Sunday, we'll stamp your certificate of postage. Your item will then be processed the next working day.

Labels to Go QR codes - need help printing your label?

If you have a Labels to Go QR code, we can scan the QR code and print the label for free. You can then fix it to your parcel, dropping it off at the same time.

  • Returns label: You can take your item to a Post Office branch or CSP
  • Postage label: You can only take your item to a CSP

I don’t live near a Royal Mail Postbox or Customer Service Point

Royal Mail is proud to be the UK’s Universal Service provider for post and it is important to us that all customers are able to access postal services. To support our customers who live in rural areas, when we deliver to more remote rural premises by van, letters which carry the appropriate postage can be handed to the driver for collection and onward transmission. Simply hand your letter to your Delivery Officer when they are delivering to your premises.

  • Items can be accepted from residential addresses in remote rural areas (business customers can apply for a business collection).
  • Only available to social customers
  • Letters should have a stamp for the correct value affixed (franked, contract mail PPI, Special Delivery Guaranteed and International items cannot be collected).  Any items found to have been underpaid will be subject to surcharges.
  • If a customer wishes to post larger item they can access our Parcel Collect service or visit a Post Office branch.

Royal Mail will endeavour to connect items collected with that day’s postings, however, in some deep rural areas delivery times may dictate that this may not always be possible.

Royal Mail accepts all items presented from customers on the assumption that the postage applied is the correct level of postage for the item. The maximum size of an item accepted is 250mm wide x 50mm high.  Any items subsequently found to be under paid will attract appropriate surcharges.
